‘To me they sound like the Velvet Underground and perhaps Brian Jonestown massacre got together and had a stone rock lovechild’

Review Gary Grim Heavy Mag

Grinding Eyes have played shows with UK bands such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, the legendary Swervedriver, Swedish rock royalty Graveyard and noticeable American bands such as Moon Duo, Dinosaur Jr., Monkey Wrench and Mudhoney.

They’ve also shared the stage with many Australian peers and legends such as The Drones, Straight Arrows, DMA’s, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, POND, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Tropical Fuck Storm.

Grinding Eyes combine Psychedelic Shoegaze Drone-rock and ambient Garage Punk in a uniquely dark soundscape.

They’ve released two singles ‘Shake it Up‘ and ‘It’s All too Strange‘ in 2017 and in 2018 they released a split single with UK act Swervedriver, ‘At night’.

In late 2018 the band announced their first full length album - a self titled LP put out through the well reviewed and iconic Australian labels, Tym Records and seminal garage rock Melbourne based label Off The Hip.

Critically acclaimed, widely received online and in print, the album impressed.

‘Listening to Grinding Eyes’ self titled album, it’s hard to believe that it’s only their first. Bursting on to Sydney’s crowded indie rock scene with swagger and waves of sound, their take on psych-rock is like a towering slab of abstidian-  black noise. Overwhelming and awe- inspiring at once’
