RAYON - Shopping B/W Running

The new singles, “Shopping” and “Running”, from Portland, Oregon based no-wave, angular post-punk oufit, Rayon, were written and recorded in the home of frontman and lead mastermind behind Rayon, Eric Sabatino.

Using the Rayon home studio, the tracks were recorded onto 16 tracks of 1/2” tape, while running (maybe too many) of the tracks through a slightly-wonky sounding tape echo. The band honed these songs over a winter of live shows and an eye/opening epic trip to Guadalajara, which inspired and re-invigorated the band.

Unlike the last full-length record, Eric brought these tracks to famed recording engineer, Larry Crane, at Jackpot Recording to collaborate on the mix.

“This was the first time we’ve used an outside see: ‘PROFESSIONAL’ person to work on our recordings in any way. The education we received was immense, and Larry was kind with his explanations of everything we had previously done ‘wrong’ with our recordings, willing to work with what we provided and willing to get weird with us! Thanks Larry. You’re the best.”

The much anticipated release of Rayon’s new 7” vinyl, “Shopping” / “Running”, brought to you via Portland, Oregon based label, Little Cloud Records, are set to be the first in an exciting new series of 7” records in the works for Rayon.
